JPG to PDF: Turn Photos Into One Clean Document

Phone cameras made everyone a scanner; the JPGs they produce are not yet a document. Applications, expense reports and print shops all want the same thing — one PDF where every image is a page. The JPG to PDF tool does exactly that, and a minute of setup decides whether the result looks deliberate or thrown together.

Page size and orientation: pick one, apply to all

Mixed portrait and landscape photos produce a PDF that twists in every viewer. Choose the page size (A4, Letter or fit-to-image) and let orientation follow each image — portrait shots get portrait pages, wide shots get their own, and nothing is cropped to force a uniform shape. Fit-to-image is the right call for design work where the image is the page.

Order before anything else

Receipts read oldest to newest; application documents usually read in the order they are listed. Arrange the images in that order, drag anything misplaced, and only then save — the conversion writes the pages in exactly the order shown.

Margins do quiet work

A small margin turns phone photos of paper into pages that print safely — most home printers refuse the last few millimetres of an edge, and a photo of a page fills the frame completely. If the target is digital only, “no margin” keeps every pixel; for anything destined for paper, pick the small margin.

Shooting the photos themselves

Three habits make the PDF: shoot straight down (phone flat above the paper), let the room's own light be even (skip the flash — it turns white paper blue), and photograph against a contrasting surface so the page edges are visible. If the result comes out slightly lopsided, Deskew straightens the pages afterwards.

If size matters afterwards

Camera images are heavy — a dozen photos can pass 20 MB. When the PDF has to travel by email, run it through Compress PDF; the size inspector shows exactly how much lighter it gets before you commit.

Combine your images: JPG to PDF — merged into one document or one file each, your choice.
